Comparing high level disinfection methods for your ultrasound probes: questions to ask
Semi-critical ultrasound probes require high level disinfection (HLD) per Australian national standards and guidelines to help ensure patient safety. There are several TGA cleared ultrasound probe HLD options available in Australia including hydrogen peroxide misting, chemical soaking, chlorine dioxide wipes and ultraviolet-C (UVC) irradiation. When selecting an HLD option each method should be assessed based on the intrinsic principles of operation, the unique characteristics of your clinical setting and workflows, and staff safety. This session will list some key factors to include in an evaluation when selecting an ultrasound probe HLD method for your practice.
